Committed to helping Central Texas communities thrive.
Education & Community Support
As an institution that was created for and by educators, we are committed to helping schools and students throughout Central Texas thrive. We give back thousands of dollars each year to various organizations and groups to help them reach students, families, teachers, and more.
And it’s not just money (although that’s pretty important!). Our employees are active in their communities and put in thousands of hours of volunteer work a year. We feel ok patting ourselves on the back for that.
Some of the organizations we support include:

High School Branches
In 2007, we decided to make it easier for high schoolers to learn money management with hands-on experience and with internship opportunities. The first of our in-school A+FCU branches was at San Marcos High School in San Marcos CISD, and since then we’ve opened branches at Connally High School and Hendrickson High School, part of Pflugerville ISD, Round Rock High School of Round Rock ISD, and Akins High School of Austin ISD.
RAISEup Texas is a privately-funded organization that uses research-validated tools to help middle school students “learn how to learn.” We’ve partnered with University Federal Credit Union to invest half a million dollars to help RAISEup’s expansion efforts.
Their results are proven (and pretty amazing). In 2014, 75% of RAISEup Texas demonstration schools qualified for the Closing Performance Gaps distinction from the Texas Education Agency’s Closing Performance Gaps accountability program. That’s three times the rate of middle schools across the region.
With the combined fundraising efforts of A+FCU and UFCU, 16 more schools will be able to implement the RAISEup Texas Strategic Instruction Model (SIM). And that means more than 28,000 more students and 1,100 more teachers will benefit from the program.
Cash Back for Local Schools
We offer custom Cash-Back Checking debit cards to the following schools and school districts. For each purchase made with a spirit debit card, we’ll donate up to 10¢ to the school or school district. In 2021, we gave back over $219,400 to these schools and school districts.
