Sole Proprietorship

A Sole Proprietorship is the most basic type of business. You are the sole owner and person responsible for the business. Learn more about Sole Proprietorship.

Documents Needed

  • DBA/ANC (if applicable)
  • EIN certificate from IRS
  • ID for owner and each signer
  • Social Security Number for each owner and signer

Association

Documents Needed

  • EIN certificate from IRS
  • ID for owner and each signer
  • Social Security Number for each owner and signer
  • Minutes from association meeting stating the officers of the associations and which ones are authorized to sign on the account

Limited Partnership (LP)

A Partnership is a business in which there are two or more owners. In a Limited Partnership, there is generally one general partner and one limited partner. Learn more about Limited Partnerships.

  • DBA/ANC (if applicable)
  • EIN certificate from IRS
  • Signed copy of Partnership Agreement (identifies partners and their authority)
  • ID for owner and each signer
  • Social Security Number for each owner and signer
  • Certified copy of Certificate of Limited Partnership from Texas Secretary of State

Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)

A Partnership is a business in which there are two or more owners. In a Limited Liability Partnership, all partners play an active role in the business, but still have limited liability. Learn more about Limited Liability Partnerships.

  • EIN certificate from IRS
  • Signed copy of Partnership Agreement (identifies partners and their authority)
  • ID for owner and each signer
  • Social Security Number for each owner and signer
  • Certified copy of Letter evidencing filing of LLP from Texas Secretary of State

General Partnership

A Partnership is a business in which there are two or more owners. In a General Partnership, all partners are equally liable and responsible for the business. Learn more about General Partnerships.

  • EIN certificate from IRS
  • ID for owner and each signer
  • Social Security Number for each owner and signer
  • Signed copy of Partnership Agreement (identifies partners and their authority)

Corporation

A Corporation is a company owned by shareholders and is legally independent from those owners. Learn more about Corporations.

Documents Needed

  • DBA/ANC (if applicable)
  • EIN certificate from IRS
  • ID for owner and each signer
  • Social Security Number for each owner and signer
  • Certified copy of Certificate of Incorporation from Texas Secretary of State (should list shareholders)
  • Corporate Resolution or Corporate Minutes (identifies officers and who has authority to sign)
  • Certified copy of Certificate of Account Status (issued by Texas State Comptroller to verify franchise taxes are paid)
  • Certificate of Filing attached to the Certified Application for Registration from the Texas Secretary Of State (if business is incorporated in a state other than Texas)

Limited Liability Company (LLC)

A Limited Liability Company has the limited liability of a corporation, but the tax and operational benefits of a partnership. Learn more about Limited Liability Companies.

  • ID for owner and each signer
  • Social Security Number for each owner and signer
  • Certificate of Formation (Organization from Texas Secretary of State)
  • Company Resolution (states who has authority to act for business)
