Educators Can Receive Up to $1,000 to Fund Innovative Programs

Austin, TX – A+ Education Foundation, a philanthropic arm of A+ Federal Credit Union, invites Central Texas Educators to apply for a 2017 A+ Education Foundation Grant of up to $1,000 to fund innovative programs for their students. A+ Federal Credit Union Awards 38 $2,000 Scholarships to Area High School and College Students

Austin, TX – The A+ Federal Credit Union (A+FCU) Board of Directors continues its commitment to education by awarding $76,000 in scholarships to 38 high school and college students in the Central Texas area.

Each student received $2,000 to help with educational expenses. The winners were selected for their outstanding academic achievement, as well as for their community involvement. This year’s winners represent 25 different high schools and six different universities.

A+FCU Celebrates Harker Heights Branch Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with local Dignitaries and Area Chambers of Commerce

RRHS Student’s Design Chosen for A+FCU Debit Card

A Dragon debit card designed by Round Rock High School student Ashley Spikes will be available to A+ Federal Credit Union members this year as A+FCU prepares to open a new branch inside the high school.

A+FCU hosted a competition for students to design a new card, selecting the card depicting the green eye of a red dragon by Spikes, who received a $500 Visa gift card for her submission.

A+ Federal Credit Union to Open Branch at Round Rock HS

Austin, TX – A+ Federal Credit Union and Round Rock ISD have formed a partnership to promote financial literacy at Round Rock High School and to prepare students for the work force through a student-operated, high school branch of the credit union starting in the 2014-2015 school year.

The branch will be staffed by 3-5 student interns who will receive school credit and pay for their work. The interns will be responsible for providing onsite financial services to peers, faculty and staff members, as well as community members. A supervisor from the A+FCU Round Rock branch will oversee office operations and conduct account opening and loan processes.

A+ FCU Helps Local Entrepreneurs Fulfill Dreams Through myBusiness Challenge

Austin, TX – A+ Federal Credit Union’s (A+FCU) understands the difficulty for entrepreneurs in fulfilling their dream of owning a business. That’s why nearly two years ago, the Credit Union launched its first ever myBusiness Challenge where inspiring entrepreneurs participated in specialized financial workshops and one-on-one business planning sessions to compete for a $25,000 zero-percent interest (0%) small business loan. A+FCU selected six myBusiness Challenge winners and after nearly two years, five are still in business.

Starting a business can be very challenging. According to Dun & Bradstreet and INC. magazine, 33% of all new businesses fail within the first six months. Fifty percent fail within the first two years of operation and 75% fail within the first three years.

A+ Federal Credit Union Awards $10,000 Grand Prize to End Member Appreciation Celebration – 536 Winners in All!

Austin, TX – A+ Federal Credit Union (A+FCU) awards $10,000 grand prize to conclude its 2013 Member Appreciation Celebration. Announced December 31, A+FCU member Carmen H. celebrated the New Year as the lucky winner of the Credit Union’s Member Appreciation Celebration grand prize.

A+FCU first introduced the eight-month celebration on May 1, 2013 to show members its appreciation for surpassing 100,000 members and $1 billion in assets. Throughout the Member Appreciation Celebration, the Credit Union awarded 536 prizes totaling nearly $300,000. Prizes included cash, free groceries for a year and electronic tablets.

A+FCU and Employees Give Back to Community in 2013

Austin, TX – Embracing the credit union philosophy of “people helping people,” A+ Federal Credit Union (A+FCU) and its employees volunteered time, talent and financial support to help local youth, educators, families and worthy organizations in the Greater Austin community in 2013.

Staying true to its roots in education, in 2013 A+FCU awarded 21 $1,000 scholarships to area students, provided paid student internships at its three high school branches as well as other branches, and through the A+ Education Foundation, a philanthropic arm of A+FCU, awarded $68,000 in grants to 74 local educators to improve the classroom experience for students. Through volunteerism and sponsorships, A+FCU partnered with local ISDs and colleges to support community events, education foundations and student initiatives, including donating over $70,000 to these important programs.
